Jonathan Dawes was born in Berlin and grew up in Essex and briefly in Gloucestershire. Originally trained as an actor at LAMDA, going on to work with new writing theatre companies such as Stratford East, Soho Theatre and the Royal Court, and in a number of television sitcoms. He re-trained as a voice coach at Guildhall with Patsy Rodenburg and has worked with opera companies in Leeds, Cardiff and the Coliseum Theatre, London. On West End musicals Matilda, The Bodyguard, The Flying Lovers of Vibetsk, Brief Encounter and Romantics Anonymous. Has also worked at repertory theatre companies around the UK and with Emma Rice at Shakespeare’s Globe. Currently teaches voice, text and accents at the Drama Centre and Guildhall.
