Simon Naylor is an English film, stage and television actor.
Simon is an actor, director and producer and Director of Manchester Actor’s Platform and MAP Rep Company as well as Artistic Director of 53two.
As an actor, television includes Dane Hibbs in 'Coronation Street', Corporal Johnson in '24: Live Another Day', 'Casualty' as Officer Peter Dowling, 'Michael Ray' in Obsession for SKY TV & DC Croker in 'Emmerdale’. Films include BAFTA winning, 'The Mark of Cain' & James Cordon’s, 'One Chance'. Other credits include: 'Creeped Out' (BBC), Doctors (BBC), Day Of The Triffids (BBC), The Bill (ITV), Primeval (ITV), 'Eastenders' (BBC).
Theatre credits include 'The Shawshank Redemption' (Wyndhams Theatre), Palindrome (Arcola Theatre), 'Funny Peculiar' (Kenwright - UK Tour), world premiere of 'The Glasshouse' for which he was nominated for an OFFIE as ‘Best Actor’ and 'When Both Sides Surrender' (53two), Nominated for Best Fringe Production - Northern Soul Awards.
As a director, Simon has directed both in Drama Schools and for professional performances, one of which, ‘Miller’, received a transfer offer to Trafalgar Studios in London’s West End. Directing credits include; Coram Boy (Italia Conti Graduate Show), Oliver Twist (Edinburgh Fringe), One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest (Chelsea Theatre), A Moment Of Silence (ETC Theatre), World Premieres of 'Don’t Cha' and 'Stay Happy Keep Smiling' and also Northern Premiere of 'Freak' (53two). Simon is also Director of MAP Repertory company and MAP Productions in Manchester.
Simon is trained in Meisner and Stanislavski and has taught at several drama schools across the country. From 2008-2015 he was Head of 1st Year on the Italia Conti BA (Hons) Acting Course where he wrote the Improvisation Course and in 2012 wrote and managed the Foundation Course as well as leading the audition panel. He has also devised courses for the International School for Screen Acting and at Aelfa Academy of Dramatic Arts and holds workshops at various schools as well as holding 1-to-1 audition sessions for established actors through MAP.
